Clothes I Packed

Here’s an illustration of the clothes I packed for my move to Copenhagen. My mom has taught me well when it comes to packing lightly but I did “splurge” on bringing a few extra cardigans and shirts. I had planned to illustrate everything I packed but it was taking too much time and I’m not sure if you really care that I brought socks and underwear and mini cadbury eggs! There’s a few other random things I brought too, but that will be revealed later on.

Shamrock Shake

The Shamrock Shake comes around once a year and for close to five years I’ve been deprived of having one. You would think that of the hundreds of McDonalds in New York City there would at least be one to carry them, but that would of course be too easy.

This year, after spending a few months back home in MN, I finally broke my shake silence.
The verdict? Just as good as I remembered it. Want to find one? Head to the shake finder site.

Winterland

Anne wandering around Como Park with the dogs. I love the bright sunny days when there is a lot of snow on the ground. Apparently there’s been 70+ days with over 5″ of snow in Minnesota!

that’s funny

Three things I say a lot according to my sister. She also did a similar drawing for her and my mom. Check it out on her blog.

happy valentine’s day

My Valentine this year? Max. He’s my little Schnoodle (Mini Schnauzer + Poodle) who along with Maggie (the Yellow Lab) have been keeping me company while I’ve been in Minnesota. Only a few more weeks until I head to Denmark! Maybe I should start thinking about packing…

girls weekend

The girls came to Minnesota and we had a blast. We danced at the St. Paul Winter Carnival ice sculpture garden (I give props to the band who performed outside when it was below freezing!),
we laughed a lot, we had a silly photo shoot and we ate well. My favorite night was when we made homemade pizza and had chocolate mousse cake and Guinness-chocolate ice cream for dessert.

Of course I just had to make cake toppers, mustache props and I designed the custom beer labels for the beer-loving girls who both got engaged this year (click the image if you dare). The labels were a brilliant idea from Liz and Becky gets the prize for coming up with the titles. Cheers!

D7 reunion

During my freshman year at
Drake I met six lovely ladies. We came from all over the place (Minnesota, Colorado, Alaska, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois) and have remained friends throughout the years. The seven of us (also nicknamed D7) try to gather yearly to celebrate engagements, weddings, birthdays, or just because. This weekend we’ll be freezing our noses off in Minnesota, celebrating two engagements and the year we all turn 30. I cannot wait. Portraits by my sister.

painting

This was my life all last week as illustrated by my sister. One of my Christmas presents to my mom was painting a few rooms in her house. So far I repainted my old bedroom in high school (the aqua had to go as well as the multi-colored handprints in the closet), the extra bedroom, two hallways and eventually I’ll get to the living room. Phew. The color is a warm light beige from Benjamin Moore called “Latte” and looks great.

my bed

The talented Jacob Pritchard has a photo project called Pictures in Bed. Before I left New York he set up his camera in my Park Slope apartment and I took some shots over a few days. At that point my whole apartment was in boxes except for a few crafts and my computer (the essentials, of course).

100 years old

On Sunday I attended the birthday of a 100 year old! My friend Kelsey and her family celebrated the occasion with personalized cupcakes to look like each family member, bingo and a fun quiz about their grandmother who was born in 1910. The party was complete with a photobooth I set up which Kelsey and her 5 nephews loved. Kelsey and her mom found the frames at thrift stores. Too cute. Update: Kelsey made an adorable video with all the pics!
